
We have opening for FULL-TIME Academic Advisor in our Sterling, Virginia office.
Days/Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Duties includes:
1. Advise high school and undergraduate students on developing individualized learning
outcomes; prepare and maintain supporting documents for advising sessions.
2. Review student records and conduct individual assessments to determine educational,
vocational, and personal goals.
3. Collaborate with students to create and update short- and long-term plans, ensuring
compliance with standards and policies.
4. Address and resolve issues related to program requirements, course scheduling, and degree
progression.
5. Interpret and apply academic policies concerning degree requirements and academic
progress.
6. Work with campus staff to develop creative solutions that enhance students' educational
experiences.
7. Stay informed and demonstrate knowledge about specific degree, credential, and certificate
programs.
8. Serve as the primary contact for students and parents regarding academic processes, plans,
study abroad applications, and performance issues.
9. Implement college advisement programs to support first-generation and diverse
community students.
10. Advise prospective college applicants on career planning, essay writing, exam preparation,
and college research.
11. Provide academic counseling, planning, and initial advising using comprehensive
knowledge of the college’s programs.
12. Develop, coordinate, and deliver outreach programs, including community workshops,
school fairs, and college tours.
13. Oversee admissions, registration, and financial aid processes for postgraduate programs to
facilitate student recruitment and enrollment.
14. Audit student transcripts and schedules to ensure proper placement and complete necessary
documentation.
15. Monitor academic progress and provide support for struggling students, including
developing study habits, involving parents, and referring to tutoring.
16. Establish partnerships with colleges, universities, and community organizations to
disseminate information about school admissions.
Special Requirements:
Position requires Master’s degree in Education, social policy, or a related field.
